Ringing Chimes

Chapter 4

In this chapter I, learned that it takes more than just creating a great powerpoint presentation to be effective in presenting a presentation. It is important to capture the audience attention. This is done by our personal approuch (how we approach the presentation). As Burmark states, “ Remember to smile as you prepare and deliver your presentation because true joy is contagious. And also remember that your message only has value if you can hook the rest of the class into learning it well enough to Teach it Forward”

I will take note of CHIMES when making a presentation. I especially enjoyed the video examples the author used to make her point more clear. By using a video that was relevant I was able to use CHIMES and reflect on my experience therefore I will remember the video in later time.

In conclusion, it takes more that a powerpoint to make a presentation.

Tweaking Presentations

chapter 1
In this chapter I learned that when crating a presentation there are different factors to consider. For me, it was easier to select the standard template and that was it. Nut As Nancy Daurte writes " You need to pry yourself away from the default templates with their preordained slide junk. Think through what is really required. What reflects your intent and personality? What will act in service to your information rather than compete with it."

There are factors to consider when creating a presentation. In order to create the best presentation I need to consider my audience and select the best effects. I need to ensure I am using the appropriate template, color, and font type. I need to make sure to use the template that does not bombard the viewer with irrelevant information that will cause distractions and hurt my point. When choosing colors I must take inconsideration the numerous people that are colorblind and use colors to illuminate my presentation. And most important the font type and size. I should put my self in place of the audience and ask myself “ can I understand and read the text?”

This chapter opened my eyes to how to create a better powerpoint which expresses my creativity.
